Application is registered based on a complaint received by post

A letter petition dated 15.07.2022 sent by Sanjay Mundhra (Social Activist), (President: Smt. Kamla Devi Mundhra Charitable Trust), 1-E-8, Sukhadia Nagar, Sriganganagar, Rajasthan was received and registered as original application has been registered under Sections 14 and 15 of National Green Tribunal Act, 2010 (hereinafter referred to as ‘NGT Act, 2010’).

The complaint is that there is a canal flowing through Punjab State which is being polluted by various industries functioning in various towns in the State of Punjab. The canal on reaching to Sriganganagar which is a border area of Indo-Pak border, is highly polluted.

However, we find that complaint is very vague. Neither names of towns whereat industries are situated who allegedly causing pollution is given nor details of such alleged industries are given and in a vague manner, entire State of Punjab has been implicated.

In absence of specific details, a roaming and fishing enquiry for the entire State of Punjab in our view is neither warranted nor would be justified.

The application is, therefore, rejected for want of specific details.
