Judgment
This Original Application has been registered in exercise of suo-moto jurisdiction under Sections 14 and 15 of National Green Tribunal Act, 2010 (hereinafter referred to as ‘NGT Act, 2010’) on a letter petition dated 04.09.2023, sent by Sh. Rajender Singh, R/o A-507,Kalayan Sampat Garden Bichholi, Mardana, complaining that Management of Women Polytechnic College, situated at Rajendra Nagar, Indore, M.P., has got five green trees cut illegally on 02.09.2023 and thereby, caused damage to environment.
In our view, the complaint raised in the matter can be looked into at the first instance by local authorities and, therefore, we direct a Joint Committee comprising District Forest Officer, Indore and District Magistrate, Indore to verify the facts, collect relevant information and if find any illegality or irregularity which involves illegal cutting of green trees, shall take appropriate remedial, preventive and punitive action against the violator(s).
Compliance Report shall be submitted to Registrar General of this Tribunal by the said Committee within two months and Registrar, if finds necessary, shall place the matter before the Bench for further orders.
District Magistrate, Indore shall be the Nodal Agency for compliance and co-ordination.
With the above directions, this Original Application is disposed of.
