In the present petition, the petitioners have sought quashing the process of election for appointment of Lambardar initiated in Village Khanetar, Tehsil Haveli, District Poonch on the ground that the COVID-19 pandemic was prevailing at the time when the aforesaid notification was issued.
The official respondents in their response stated that the election process could not be completed due to number of reasons as such, vide order dated 07.02.2023, Mr. Aijaz Ahmed was appointed as Lambardar for a period of six months or till the post is filled by the election after his name was recommended by Naib Tehsildar Khanetar.
Thus, it is evident that said Aijaz Ahmed is still continuing as Lambardar for the aforesaid village for more than two and half years.
In that view of the matter, the present petition is disposed of by directing the official respondents to hold elections for the office of Lambardar for Village Khanetar, Tehsil Haveli, District Poonch within a period of three months from the date a certified copy of this order is made available to the respondents.
Disposed of.
