This Habeas Corpus Petition has been filed praying that this Court may be pleased to direct the third respondent to produce the detenu, namely, Selvi, aged about 27 years, before this Court and to set her at liberty. The petitioner has stated that his daughter, Selvi, aged about 27 years, had married one Marimuthu 10 years back. They had two children, namely, Poomika and Kuhan. The detenue has been living with the petitioner all along. While so, the detenue had gone out to shop on 9.9.2011. Since, the detenue had not returned, the petitioner had made a complaint to the third respondent, on 13.9.2011. However, as no effective steps had been taken to trace the detenue, the petitioner has preferred the present Habeas Corpus Petition before this Court.

A Status Report, dated 13.12.2011, has been filed by the third respondent. It has been stated that, on 16.11.2011, a case has been registered, in Crime No. 223 of 2011, on the file of the Ponnamaravathi Police Station, u/s 366 I.P.C., against one Palanisamy. It is also stated that effective steps are being taken to trace the detenue. In such circumstances, as no further orders are necessary, the Habeas Corpus Petition stands closed. However, the third respondent is directed to continue the investigation, in Crime No. 223 of 2011, and take effective steps to trace the detenue, as expeditiously as possible.
