Jaichandren, J.—This Habeas Corpus Petition has been filed, praying that this Court may be pleased to direct the first and the second respondents, to produce the detenue, namely, Keerthana, daughter of the petitioner, aged about 16 years, before this Court, and hand over the custody of the detenue to the petitioner. It has been stated that the husband of the petitioner is working abroad. The second daughter of the petitioner, namely, Keerthana, who is studying in 11th Standard at Thiruppuvanam Government Girls Higher Secondary School, had been missing, from 10.10.2011. Therefore, the petitioner had made a complaint before the second respondent, on 15.10.2011, and the said complaint had been registered, by the second respondent, in Crime No. 314 of 2011, u/s 366A I.P.C.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing on behalf of the first and the second respondents had submitted that, based on the complaint made by the petitioner, on 15.10.2011, a case has been registered, in Crime No. 314 of 2011, by the second respondent, u/s 366A I.P.C. He had also stated that effective steps are being taken to trace the detenue.

In view of the averments made in the affidavit filed in support of this petition and in view of the statements made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the first and second respondents, this Court is of the view that no further orders are necessary in this Habeas Corpus Petition. Hence, the Habeas Corpus Petition stands closed. However, the second respondent shall continue with the investigation, in Crime No. 314 of 2011, and take appropriate steps to trace the detenue, as expeditiously as possible. The Superintendent of Police, Sivagangai District, the first respondent herein, shall monitor the investigation. The petitioner shall be informed, if any substantial information is obtained regarding the detenue.
