Judgment
Grievance in this application is against violation of environmental norms by Panipat Thermal Power Plant in Haryana. It is stated that the Plant has failed to scientifically manage fly ash and effluents. Adjoining agricultural fields were adversely affected by ash released from ash dyke. As compensation for such damage, the victims were provided tube-well connections which have now been disconnected for non payment of electricity bills. On that account, there is no water available for irrigation. On the other hand, polluted effluent is going to agricultural fields due to bursting of slurry pipeline on 30.11.2022 for which no remedial action has been taken.
Having regard to above, we are of the view that Haryana State PCB and District Magistrate, Panipat may look into the matter and take remedial action after interaction with stakeholders, including the Project Proponent.
The application is disposed of.
