Application is registered based on a complaint received by post/e-mail

Grievance in this application is against encroachment of pond at Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh which will result in irrepressible damage to the environment and deprive the area of significant environmental services rendered by the said pond.

The Tribunal has already dealt with the issue of protection of ponds and other water bodies and issued directions to all States/UTs vide order dated 18.11.2020 in O.A. No. 325/2015, Lt. Col. Sarvadaman Singh Oberoi vs. Union of India & Ors.

In view of above, we direct the District Magistrate, Vishakhapatnam, Executive Engineer, Irrigation Department, Vishakhapatnam and Regional Officer, State PCB to look into the matter and take remedial action in accordance with law.

The application is disposed of.
