1 In the present writ petition, the petitioner is praying for issuance of directions to the respondents to forward the service book of the petitioner to her new department i.e. District Education Office, Bathinda. The petitioner has also challenged the reply dated 21.11.2014 (Annexure P-8) given by respondent No.2, whereby the claim raised by the petitioner in the legal notice has not been accepted by the respondents.

Short reply dated 15.12.2025 by way of an affidavit of the District Education Officer (SE), Bathinda on behalf of respondent No.3 has been filed in Court today. The same is taken on record. A copy thereof has been supplied to opposite counsel.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of respondent No.2 submits that there is a remedy available to the petitioner for getting a certified copy of her service book on payment in terms of Rule 12.5 of the Punjab Civil Service Rule, Volume-I, Part-I. She further submits that a Government employee is entitled to get a certified copy of his/her service book on payment of such amount as may be fixed by the Department of Finance by a general or special order as copying fee and cost of the service book and also to have all subsequent events & entries recorded therein under the proper attestation by the Attesting Officer. Learned counsel submits that in case, the petitioner in terms of the abovesaid rules requests for a certified copy of her service book, before the competent authority, her case for grant of certified copy of service book would be considered in the light of the abovesaid rules.

Learned State counsel also does not controvert to the statement made by the learned counsel appearing on behalf of respondent No.2.

In view of the above, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner does not want to press the present petition, however, with liberty to approach the competent authority under the relevant rules for grant of certified copy of service book.

Accordingly, the present writ petition is disposed of as not pressed with liberty aforesaid.

Pending miscellaneous application(s), if any, also stands disposed of.
