Varshini M vs The Karnataka State Law University & Ors.

The petitioner is stated to be a student in the third respondent College. He has filed the present petition seeking for issuance of a direction to the respondent no.1 - Karnataka State Law University to approve the application filed seeking transfer from the College of respondent no.3 to the College of respondent no. 2.

It is submitted that a NOC has been issued by respondent nos.2 and 3 and the respondent no.1-University is to act upon the request for approval of transfer.

Learned counsel appearing for respondent no.1 University would submit that necessary decision would be taken as is permissible in law.

Taking note of the urgency pleaded by the petitioner, it would be appropriate to dispose of the writ petition directing respondent no. 1 - University to consider and pass appropriate orders regarding the application moved on 03.09.2026 seeking transfer from the College of respondent no.3 to the College of respondent no. 2. Such decision is to be taken within a period not later than seven days from today.

Respondent no.1 - University while passing such orders if were to pass order permitting transfer may take note of the request of petitioner regarding issuance of appropriate direction to respondent no.2 permitting admission, as it is stated that last date for admission has lapsed. Such observation is made conditional upon respondent no.1-University passing an affirmative order of transfer.

The issuance of notice to respondent nos.2 and 3 is waived.

Accordingly petition is disposed of.
