The present petition has been filed under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996^{11.“the Act” hereinafter} seeking further extension of two months’ time for making the arbitral award along with affidavit.

It is made out from the record that the Petitioner and the Respondent are parties to the arbitration proceedings before Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vineet Saran, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India appointed as the Sole Arbitrator by this Court vide order dated 31.10.2023.

The statutory mandate of the arbitral Tribunal which commenced upon the filing of the statement of difference on 30.03.2024, was initially extended by mutual consent until 30.09.2025 and thereafter by this Court vide order dated 16.12.2025 until 14.06.2026.

Mr. Sindhu Sinha, learned Counsel appearing for the Petitioner submits that the final arguments have since concluded, a requisite stamp paper has been submitted and the matter stands reserved for award. However, owing to the voluminous record and complex technical issues involved, the learned Sole Arbitrator has further sought a period of two months for writing and pronouncing the award, to which both parties have consented.

This Court is of the view, that since the matter has been reserved for the pronouncement of the award, this Court is inclined to extend the mandate of the arbitral tribunal till 14.08.2026, so as to enable the arbitral tribunal to conclude the arbitration proceedings and pronounce the award. Further, the period till today also stands regularised.

The present petition stands disposed of in the aforesaid terms.
