Judgment

Heard Mr. U. Augusta, learned counsel appearing for the petitioners.
Issue notice returnable within four weeks.
Mrs. Monomala, learned GA accepts notice on behalf of the respondents, hence, no formal notice is called for.
The case of the petitioners is that, because of none enactment of a Manipur Municipal Corporation Act for smooth functioning of the Imphal Municipal Corporation, the elected representatives cannot discharge their functions smoothly and accordingly, the present writ petition has been filed with a prayer for directing the authorities to enact an appropriate Manipur Municipal Corporation Act for the smooth functioning of the Imphals Municipal Corporation before the next election.
In view of the prayer made by the petitioners, learned GA is directed to get necessary instructions as to what steps have been taken by the concerned authorities of the State Government with regard to the enactment of the Manipur Municipal Corporation Act.
