Heard learned counsel for the parties for final disposal of the petition.
Petitioner is facing a departmental inquiry instituted under a charge-sheet dated 22.11.2018. The only request of the petitioner is that such departmental proceedings may be completed expeditiously. His advocate clarified that all other contentions are kept open to be raised at appropriate stage. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that after issuance of charge-sheet no further worthwhile progress has taken place in the inquiry. The Inquiry Officer previously appointed has now been transferred and, therefore, there may be requirement of appointment of a new Inquiry Officer. Whatever be the reason, the departmental inquiry should not prolong indefinitely.
Considering the fact that the departmental charge-sheet was issued nearly three years back and there is only one charge which also appears to be not based on any complicated facts or law, let the departmental inquiry against the petitioner arising out of the said charge-sheet be completed within a period of six months from today.
Petition disposed of accordingly.
