The petitioner is seeking the following reliefs:

“1) Issue a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent to consider the case of the petitioner college as same is ready for inspection as per the calendar of events issued by the respondent herein;

2) Issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondent that the admissions had to be made for the academic year 2021-22 as is same has to be inspected and recommended to the state government at the earliest; etc.”

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that as per Annexure-C to the writ petition, the petitioner has submitted an application seeking permission to start the fresh course in M.Sc Nursing for the academic year 2021-22. The said application was submitted on 22/01/2021. Learned counsel further submits that the petitioner has provided all the infrastructural facilities and it is ready for inspection. He, therefore prays that an appropriate direction may be issued to the respondent to make inspection and thereafter take a decision to grant permission to the petitioner to commence fresh course of M.Sc Nursing for the academic year 2021-22. He also submits that on account of delay in taking decision by the respondent, last date fixed by it for admission of Students i.e. 30/03/2022 is also going to expire soon.

Learned counsel for the respondent Sri Hareesh Ganapathy, who has taken notice in the matter submits that he has already informed the respondent-University about this case and also furnished a copy of this writ petition to them.

Since only a mandamus is sought by the petitioner for considering its application, this petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to consider the case of the petitioner-College for commencing M.Sc Nursing course for the academic year 2021-22 as per its application (Annexure-C) within ten days from today and communicate its decision to the petitioner immediately thereafter.
