Judgment

Heard Ms. Maneesha Dhir, learned counsel for TRAI appearing in some of the matters. As prayed by her, let affidavit on behalf of TRAI in the concerned petitions be filed during the course of the day.

It appears from the submissions that in the matter pending in the Apex Court against the judgment of Hon'ble Bombay High Court, the broadcasters have not been able to get any interim relief so far.  In that view of the matter, TRAI has now issued a circular to all the service providers and they are expected to act in light of stand taken by the Regulator. Inter-se dispute between the service providers will be considered at an appropriate stage but interim arrangement will abide as per stand taken by the Regulator in view of judgment of Hon'ble Bombay High Court and the developments in the appeal pending in the Apex Court.

The parties concerned are directed to complete the pleadings wherever petitions require consideration on meritis even after the judgment of the Hon'ble Bombay High Court. That should be done within four weeks by filing reply and within further four weeks by filing rejoinder, if required.

Post the matters under the same head on 17.1.2022.
