Judgment
Taking into account the order, which this Court proposes to pass today, it is not necessary to issue notice to the respondents.
In this writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India read with Section 103 of the Constitution of the State of Jammu and
Kashmir, the petitioners inter alia seek a direction to the respondent Nos. 2 to 4 to provide adequate security to the petitioners, who have
solemnized marriage contrary to the wishes of respondents 5 to 9.
When the matter was taken up today, learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that the petitioners are entitled to seek police protection in
view of law laid down by the Supreme Court in case titled ""Lata Singh V/s State of U.P. and anr. (2006) 5 SCC 475.
In view of the aforesaid submissions, I deem it appropriate to dispose of this writ petition with the direction that in case the petitioners submit a
representation before Sr. Superintendent of Police, Jammu along with a copy of this order, the Sr. Superintendent of Police, Jammu shall take an
action on the representation of the petitioners in the light of the law laid down in the case titled ""Lata Singh V/s State of U.P. and anr."" by passing a
speaking order within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of the certified copy of the order passed today. It is made clear that this
Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case of the petitioners.
With the aforesaid direction, the petition is disposed of. Certified copy as per rules.
Registry to supply copy of the order to learned counsel for the petitioners.
