Judgment
This Writ Petition is filed to issue a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus calling for the records pertaining to the impugned proceedings in Na.Ka.No.22/Mugam/Ka.U.A/Ma.Maa/2026 dated 24.08.2026 on the file of the 2nd respondent and quash the same as illegal and consequently direct the respondents to grant permission to the petitioner to erect a temporary stage in front of Sri Navaneetha Krishnan Swamy Temple situated at North Masi Street, Madurai, to conduct “Sri Krishna Jayanthi” function on 04.09.2026 from 05.00 p.m, to 10.00 p.m.
Since the program to be held as per the own schedule on 04.09.2026, wherein, in the earlier hearing as per the rejection, the petitioner did not obtain any permission from the Corporation to conduct the festival.
The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that there is no such procedure available in the Corporation of Madurai, and that the petitioner's contention was also accepted by the police. He further submitted that, if the place is not suitable, as contended by the Government Advocate, the petitioner may be permitted to file a fresh application indicating an alternative place today itself, and that the same may be considered by the respondent police.
The submission is recorded. As regards the alternative time and alternative place, the petitioner may submit a representation seeking a change of time, the petitioner's representation is taken on record.
The learned Government Advocate submitted that if the petitioner gives such a representation seeking a change of time, the petitioner may be permitted to file the same, and the police may consider it in accordance with law.
The representation shall be submitted by the petitioner before on 04.09.2026, before 03.00 pm.
With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petitions are closed.
