Judgment
A. Badharudeen, J
This Original Petition (Criminal) has been filed under Article 227 of the Constitution of India and the petitioner is the sole accused in S.C.No.342/2020 on the files of the Additional Sessions Court-I (Special Court under the NDPS Act), Thrissur. The prayer in this original petition is to direct the Additional Sessions Court-I, Thrissur to dispose of S.C.No.342/2020 pending before that court, within a time-frame fixed by this Court.
Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Public Prosecutor.
At the time of admission, a report from the Special Judge was called for and as per letter dated 07.08.2023, the learned Special Judge reported that the case can be disposed of within a period of six months.
Acting on the report, there shall be a direction to the First Additional Sessions Court (Special Court under the NDPS Act), Thrissur to dispose of S.C.No.342/2020 within a period of six months, from the date of receipt or production of a copy of this judgment.
This Original Petition (Criminal) stands disposed of as indicated above.
Registry is directed to forward a copy of this judgment to the court below concerned, within two weeks, for information and compliance.
