1.

The petitioner seeks a direction directing the making of golden armor for the presiding Deity to be used at the time of Kumbabhishekam, which is scheduled to be held in the month of April '2021.

2.

The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that in pursuant to the orders of this Court and as ordered by the jurisdictional Magistrate, the ornaments and other precious metals have been received, the golden armor, which was lost, has not been recreated.

3.

The learned counsels for the respondents submitted that apart from the fact that there is no bona fide in this petition, a spate of petitions have been filed. The renovation work is on and with the available resources including the golden ornaments, it will not be possible to make the golden armor. The available stock of gold is approximately 5½ kgs, whereas, for the making of the golden armor, about 13 kgs of gold is required.

4.

This Court does not find any reason to allow this writ petition. Until and unless the petitioner donates the remaining extent of gold, it may not be possible to make the golden armor for the presiding Deity. The renovation work is going on. Perhaps, such a wish can be fulfilled if the presiding Deity, otherwise willing through the donations of the willing devotees. Suffice it to state that no writ of mandamus can be issued as sought for by the petitioner, especially when it was practically not possible to consider the said request for want of adequate resources. Accordingly, the writ petition stands closed. The respondents are at liberty to proceed further to conduct the Kumbabhishekam at the earliest after the completion of the renovation work. The statement made by the learned counsel for the respondents that about 4½ kgs of jewels are under the custody of the department and the remaining about 1½ kgs, which is available in the Treasury, would also be taken possession in favour of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department. No costs. Consequently connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
