Judgment
Heard both sides.
The petitioner has come up with the writ petition to direct the respondent to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 28.08.2026 to grant permission for installation of Vinayagar Idol at Valampuri Vinayagar Temple, S.M. Valasai Village, Ervadi, Ramanathapuram District, conduct Vinayagar Chathurthi Festival, procession, immersion of the idol in the sea and provide adequate police protection.
The learned Counsel for the petitioner submitted that already G.O.Ms.No. 598 of Public (Law and Order) Department dated 09.08.2018, provides guidelines for the installation and worship of Vinayagar Idols and immersion. As per the said Government Order, a person, who is interested in installation of Vinayagar Idol during Vinayagar Chathurthi, has to approach the Revenue Divisional Officer or the Assistant Commissioner of Police of the area concerned, by submitting Form – I with required NOC and then the said authority may decide to grant permission. Having known the procedure sending representation to the Collector, the Superintendent of Police, Tahsildar and Inspector of Police is not correct.
Recording the above submission this writ petition is dismissed. However, liberty is given to the petitioner to file petition in accordance with the above said Government Order, seeking permission for installation of Vinayagar Idol.
