Judgment
The petitioner is the father of two minor girls aged 17 and 13 who, according to the petitioner, went missing on July 21, 2022 and, despite the petitioner’s best efforts, he has not been able to ascertain their whereabouts.
It is submitted by learned Public Prosecutor on behalf of the State that the two girl children may have left their home and, upon being found unescorted, have been taken into the Child Home at South West Garo Hills, Ampati under the Child Welfare Committee set up in accordance with law. It is further submitted by the State that in such a situation once the parents or the family of the minor are traced out, there is a counselling session and, upon assessing the situation, keeping the child’s interest in mind, the minor is made over to the parents or the family or other steps in accordance with law are taken.
Since the State has disclosed the whereabouts of the two missing girls and they appear to be in good hands, let the matter appear next week for the State to indicate the further steps taken.
