Judgment
A.K. Sikri, C.J.—In this PIL, the issue raised is that respondent No. 3, who is working as Inspector/SHO, is posted in Police Station Sadar Jalandhar, whereas, the place of his residence, i.e., Village Samrai also falls within the jurisdiction of said Police Station. The submission is that he should not be posted in the same police station where he or his family resides. Learned counsel submits that there should be a policy framed by the Government not to depute such police officers/officials in their home town. We do not understand as to how posting of a police Inspector in his home town is against any rule/law/service jurisprudence. It is also not shown that respondent No. 3 or his family members are taking advantage of his posting in the home town. Be that as it may, the petitioner has made representation to the Secretary, Department of Home, Punjab and SSP, Jalandhar and it is for them to look into this aspect. The representation submitted by the petitioner may be considered for any action, if at all, needs to be taken.
Writ petition stands disposed of with the above directions.
