1.

The petitioner, who is the Secretary of Ezhukone Madankavu Sree Mahadevar Temple, is before this Court seeking to command respondents 1 and 2 to afford adequate and effective police protection for the smooth and peaceful conduct of Sivarathri Maholsavam on 18.02.2023.

2.

The petitioner states that the Temple is situated near Kollam-Senkotta National Highway and the Sivarathri is falling on 18.02.2023. Large number of devotees would gather in the Temple to attend the Sivarathri Rituals.

3.

As huge crowd is likely to gather, there is a chance of law and order problem. Unless the respondents give adequate protection for the conduct of Sivarathri Festival, there is a likelihood of law and order issue.

4.

Government Pleader entered appearance on behalf of the respondents and submitted that there is no issue of law and order problem existing as on date. As a large crowd will be gathering for Sivarathri Festival, the police will be deploying sufficient force for maintaining law and order.

In the circumstances, the writ petition is disposed of directing the 2nd respondent-Station House Officer to deploy sufficient police force to maintain law and order in the petitioner’s Temple on the Sivarathri day.
