The husband of the petitioner Kalo Devi i.e. late Ratan Surika Puri died on 17.08.2016 in harness. The husband of petitioner no. 2, Jiteshwari Devi late

Manbodhan Mahto died on 18.12.2019 after superannuating from service from 30.09.2016. It is the case of the petitioners that none of the death-cum-

retiral benefits of these two employees have been disbursed to the petitioners. The petitioners claim that they are entitled to get the benefits in terms

of fixation of salary as per the report of the 5th PRC. Thus, writ application was filed in the year 2020 but till date admittedly no amount has been paid

nor any steps have been taken by the respondents to resolve the dispute.

Today when the matter is called out counsel for the State submits that he will take some time on behalf of the State authorities for finally fixing pay

and retiral benefits of the deceased employees on the ground that the person who is supposed to undertake the aforesaid exercise, is suffering from

COVID.

Considering the aforesaid facts, this case is adjourned for six weeks. It is made clear that since not a single penny has been paid to the petitioners, by

way of interim measure, Rs. 5,00,000/- to be paid to each of the petitioners by the respondents. It is up to the State and the University to ensure the

payment from any fund as per their wish. This payment will be adjusted against the final amount which the petitioners are entitled to receive. This

amount should be paid by Saturday i.e. 24th July, 2021.

Let a copy of this order be communicated to the Registrar Ranchi University and The Director, Higher, Technical Education & Skill Development

Department. The failure on the part of the respondents in making this interim payment by Saturday will be deemed to be willful violation of the order

of this Court.
