G. Rohini, J.—Heard the learned Counsel for the petitioner and perused the material on record.

Admittedly, the petitioner did her B.Sc. in Food Technology and Management. She appeared for entrance test seeking admission into M.Sc. Nutrition & Dietetics conducted by the respondent University and secured rank of 4177. However, she was denied admission on the ground that she did not possess the prescribed undergraduate degree qualification.

It is not in dispute that in the prospectus issued for the admissions into post-graduation in Nutrition & Dietetics, the eligibility criteria did not include B.Sc. in Food & Technology and that the said degree possessed by the petitioner did not include Chemistry as main subject. However the petitioner contends that having failed to raise such objection at the time of scrutinizing her application and having allowed her to appear for entrance test, it is not open to the respondent to deny her admission. It is also contended that the degree possessed by her is equivalent to the eligibility prescribed in the prospectus.

Admittedly the petitioner did not satisfy the prescribed eligibility criteria. Whether B.Sc. Food & Technology can be considered as a requisite qualification for being included in the eligibility criteria or whether it is an equivalent to the prescribed eligibility criteria is an academic question and this Court will not sit in appeal over the decision of the respondent. Hence the impugned action of the respondent in not considering the petitioner for admission into M.Sc. Nutrition & Dietetics Course warrants no interference by this Court.

Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed. No costs.
