The applicant is working as Superintending Engineer in Delhi Jal Board (for short, DJB). Through an order dated 16.03.2018, he was imposed the punishment of reduction to a lower stage in time scale of pay, by one stage, for a period of two years, without cumulative effect. He is said to have preferred an appeal before the DJB, the 1st respondent herein, against the order of punishment. His grievance is that though six months have elapsed ever since the appeal was preferred, it has not been disposed of as yet. The order of punishment is challenged in this OA.

Heard Shri Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, learned counsel for the applicant and Shri P. K. Singh appearing on behalf of Shri Rajeev Kumar, learned counsel for the respondents.

Though the order of punishment is challenged in this OA, we are not inclined to entertain the same at this stage on account of the reason that the appeal preferred by the applicant before 1st respondent is still pending. The 1st respondent can be required to dispose of the appeal expeditiously.

Hence, the OA is disposed of directing the 1st respondent to take up the appeal preferred by the applicant against the order dated 16.03.2018, and pass orders within a period of two months from the date of receipt of copy of this order, or in its next meeting, whichever is later.

There shall be no order as to costs.
