The matter has been taken up in light of a captioned media report to the effect that construction of beach and lagoon villas is taking place in Lakshadweep illegally. Tender notice has been issued and agreement has been reached at the cost of Rs. 806 crores. The project is opposed by the inhabitants.
The media report shows that the project has been undertaken by public authorities, after due process. CRZ Clearance was granted on 30.09.2020 by the MoEF&CC, on the recommendation of the Lakshadweep Coastal Zone Management Authority (LCZMA) in accordance with the Integrated Island Management Plan (IIMP) prepared as per IPZ Notification, 2011, approved by the Hon’ble Supreme Court vide order dated 19.08.2015 in Civil Appeal No. 4625-4626 of 2012, M/s Sea Shell Beach Resorts Vs. Union Territory of Lakshadweep & Ors. There is nothing to show that there is violation of the IIMP.
We thus do not find any ground to pass any further order.
The application is disposed of.
This will not affect any aggrieved party to take remedies based on relevant material.
