1.

This M.A has been filed by the Applicant with a prayer to stay the operation of second round of the Indian Premier League, 2024 which is scheduled to start from 08.04.2024 and end on 26.05.2024, totaling 53 matches, till the earlier order of the NGT is complied with.

2.

Learned counsel for the applicant submits that the NGT had earlier passed the order dated 15.04.2021 in OA No. 94/2021, prohibiting the use of groundwater for maintenance of playgrounds at least during the time no match is being played and exploring utilization of STP treated water but the stadiums where the IPL matches are to be held are not complying with the said direction and are using the groundwater, therefore, the holding of the matches should be stayed.

3.

After hearing the learned counsel for the applicant on the perusal of the M.A we find that no supporting material has been enclosed by the applicant to show that the stadiums in question are using the groundwater. If the applicant wants any interim relief from the Tribunal or an interim order of the Tribunal staying the holding of the match in the stadiums in question, then he is required to prima facie make out a ground for grant of the interim relief but in the present case no such material has been enclosed to establish a prima facie ground.

4.

Hence, in the circumstances of the case and considering the plea which is taken in the application and the fact that no supporting material has been filed, we do not find any ground to entertain the prayer made in the M.A.

5.

M.A is accordingly rejected.
