Judgment
The grievance raised in this application is against proposed Modern Industrial Park on the flood plains of River Satluj in violation of environmental norms, 30 meters away from manmade embankment (Dhusi Bandh) at Ludhiana.
Since it is stated that the project has been now abandoned, discussion on merits is unnecessary. However, we note that vide order dated 8.4.2022, the Tribunal constituted a joint Committee comprising State PCB, Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority, District Magistrate, Ludhiana and Divisional Forest Officer, Ludhiana to ascertain factual position and to furnish a report to the Tribunal.
Report dated 10.7.2022 has been filed by the joint Committee that the project is in planning phase and in execution thereof all environmental norms will be followed. It is further stated that there is no protected forest or wildlife sanctuary close to the area nor any flood has taken place in the last 30 years.
Since it is not necessary to consider the merits, we leave the questions open to be considered as and when necessary.
The application stands disposed of.
