This Writ Petition is filed alleging interference by respondents No.2 to 6 by repeatedly compelling the petitioner to appear before the Women Police Station through oral directions and telephonic calls, without issuing any notice in accordance with the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (for short, "BNSS").

2.

Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Assistant Government Pleader for Home, appearing for respondents No.1 to 6.

3.

Learned Assistant Government Pleader for Home has furnished a copy of the written instructions received by him and submitted that the petitioner's wife, Smt. Edla Madhavi, lodged a complaint on 17.06.2026 alleging harassment for dowry by the petitioner. It is submitted that, upon receipt of the said complaint, an entry was made in the General Diary on 17.06.2026 and since the dispute was matrimonial in nature, respondent No. 6 issued notices under Section 179 of the BNSS, dated 17.06.2026, to both the complainant and the petitioner, requesting them to attend counselling on 22.06.2026. It is further submitted that the petitioner, by his reply dated 20.06.2026, sought temporary exemption from personal appearance on the said date. Thereafter, another notice under Section 179 of the BNSS, dated 02.07.2026, was issued to the petitioner requesting him to attend counselling on 29.07.2026. Instead of attending the counselling session, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing the present Writ Petition.

4.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that he has no instructions with regard to the counselling scheduled on 29.07.2026. He, however, submitted that the petitioner would cooperate with the investigating authorities.

5.

Having regard to the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is of the opinion that no orders are required in the present Writ Petition. Accordingly, the petitioner is directed to ascertain the next date fixed for counselling from the respondent police and participate in the counselling. The respondent police are directed to proceed strictly in accordance with law.

6.

With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.

Miscellaneous applications, if any, pending shall stand closed.
