The writ petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking a writ of mandamus directing respondent no.1 to dispose of the appeal of petitioner within a reasonable period as fixed by the Court.

It is the case of petitioner that he was dismissed from the post of Chief Assistant by the respondent no.3 vide order dated 22.10.2024. The petitioner has preferred a departmental appeal against the dismissal order before respondent no.1-Secretary, Pay Jal Department, Government of Uttarakhand, Dehradun on 09.01.2025.

An innocuous prayer has been made by the petitioner in the present writ petition that a direction be issued to the respondent no.1 to decide the said appeal within a stipulated period fixed by this Court.

Learned counsel for the respondents have no objection, if such an order is passed.

Accordingly, the writ petition is allowed. A mandamus is issued to respondent no.1- Secretary, Pay Jal Department, Government of Uttarakhand, Dehradun, to decide the appeal of the petitioner dated 09.01.2025, within a period of three months from the date of production of certified copy of this order, strictly in accordance with law, by a reasoned and speaking
