All cases listed today have been taken up for hearing by way of video conferencing because of the situation existing due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
By this petition the petitioner seeks a direction to respondent no.1 to decide his "mercy petition" dated 04.07.2014 (Annexure P-4), filed against the order dated May 22, 2017, passed by the Director General of Police, Haryana (respondent no.2).
That being so, without making any comment whatsoever on the merits of the case, with it to be of course noticed that the petition that is sought to be decided, has itself been termed as a "mercy petition", this petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent no.1 to take a decision on the aforesaid petition, by (if necessary) asking for comments from respondent no.2 (if respondent no.1 considers it necessary to do so, a 'mercy petition' being a non-statutory petition/appeal).
The needful be done within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order.
