This writ petition is filed seeking to issue a Writ Order or Direction more particularly one in the nature of a Writ of Mandamus declaring the inaction of Respondents in providing adequate and necessary police protection to the Petitioners to enable them to submit their nominations for the post of Councilors of the Mydhukur Municipality despite their request in view of the obstruction and intimidation as illegal, arbitrary and violative of Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution of India and consequently direct Respondents herein to provide adequate and necessary police protection to the Petitioners and take appropriate lawful measures to prevent any obstruction, intimidation or interference by private individuals, thereby enabling them to reach the designated nomination venue and submit their nominations within the prescribed time and pass such other order or orders which this Court deems fit in the interest of justice.

2.

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned Government Pleader for Home.

3.

The present writ petition was filed on 17.10.2026 seeking protection to enable the petitioners to file their nominations. The Hon’ble Supreme Court in S.L.P.No.37476 of 2026, in order dated 21.10.2026, issued guidelines to the State Election Commission. Accordingly, the State Election Commission extended the time for filing nominations, which extension also covers Mydhukur Municipality.

4.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioners requested that the writ petition may be disposed of by directing the petitioners to file their nominations, as the petition was filed on 17.10.2026. It is observed that no representation was submitted to the respondent authorities seeking necessary assistance to file nominations. It is submitted that by that time orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court are not there pursuant to the directions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court time is extended for filing nominations and additional nomination centres are notified. Thus, the petitioners are at liberty to file their nominations at the newly nominated centres. In the event of any grievance regarding the receipt of their nominations, the petitioners are at liberty to submit appropriate representations to the concerned respondent authorities, who shall receive such representations in accordance with law and proceed as per due process of law.

5.

Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.

As a sequel thereto, the miscellaneous applications, if any, pending in this petition, shall stand closed.
