Petitioners' house was acquired, however, compensation was not paid to them. Thus, feeling aggrieved, they filed Writ Petition (M/S) No. 308 of 2020, which was disposed of by Writ Court, vide order dated 11.02.2020 with a direction to respondents to get necessary approval from Government of India for payment of compensation, expeditiously.
Alleging disobedience of the said order, this Contempt Petition was filed.
On 07.12.2021, learned Standing Counsel appearing for respondents made a statement that amount payable as compensation to the petitioners has been sanctioned and petitioners have been asked to furnish their bank details. Today, Mr. Lalit Sharma, learned Standing Counsel appearing for respondents submits that petitioners have supplied bank details on 17.12.2021 and the payment would be released to them shortly by Defence Accounts Department. He has assured the Court that the money would be transferred to the petitioners within three weeks from today.
Accordingly, the Contempt Petition is closed by taking statement made by learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents on record. Contempt notices issued to respondents are hereby discharged.
