Through the medium of this writ petition, the petitioners have sought the following reliefs:

(i) Seeking protection of their life and liberty at the hands of private respondents by issuing a writ of mandamus;

(ii) To restrain the respondents from interfering in the peaceful live-in-relationship of the petitioners by issuing a writ of prohibition;

(iii) To allow the petitioner for marriage after the attainment of their statutory period as envisaged in an amendment under Hindu Marriage Act by issuing a writ of mandamus.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits the petitioners are in live-in-relationship since February, 2020 against the wishes of their parents and relatives and apprehend threat to their life and liberty at the hands of private respondent. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners be protected against the threat at hands of private respondent, to which Mr. Raman Sharma, learned AAG is not averse.

In view of the submission made, this writ petition can be and is disposed of at this stage with a direction to the petitioners that in the event they apprehend any threat to their life and liberty at the hands of the private respondent, they shall approach respondent No. 3 i.e. SHO, Police Station, Canal Raod Nowabad, Jammu, who shall look into the grievance of the petitioners and if found genuine, he shall provide protection to the petitioners against the threats from private respondent. However, this order shall not come in the way of investigation in the event any FIR has been registered.
