Mr. G.Syngkrem, learned counsel for the respondent No. 4 submits that the transfer of enrollment of the writ petitioner is in process, but the final approval has to be obtained from the respondent No. 2, who has not yet put up an appearance. He further submits that the application for NOC for transfer of the enrollment has been submitted to the respondent No. 2 which has evoked no response as yet.
Ms. L.Majaw, learned counsel for the respondent No. 3 i.e. the Bar Council of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram & Nagaland, submits that they are still awaiting instructions from the respondent No. 2.
The situation with regard to the transfer of enrollment of lawyers from the erstwhile Bar Council of Assam etc. to the Meghalaya Bar Council, it appears has been at a stalemate for a considerably long period of time. The non-transfer of the enrollment will give rise to problems to the advocates who are practicing in the State of Meghalaya, if the transfer is not affected promptly.
It is expected therefore, that the respondent No. 2 initiate appropriate steps to instruct the respective Bar Councils for transfer of the enrollments be achieved at the earliest.
A copy of this order to be marked to the Bar Council of India as well as the Secretary of the Bar Council of India (respondent No.2).
