Judgment

Petitioner has approached this Court, claiming information under the Right to Information Act, whereby certain information, which was sought to be obtained from M/s Ludhiana Wholesale Cloth Merchants Shop-cum-Office Building Society (Regd.), Ludhiana, was refused by the State Information Commission, Punjab, vide order dated 13.08.2015 (Annexure P-3) on the ground that the Society from which the information is being sought is purely a private Society in nature and by no stretch of imagination can be defined as a public authority.
Learned counsel for the petitioner is unable to point out any assets or share of the Government in the said Society. In the light of the above position, M/s Ludhiana Wholesale Cloth Merchants Shop-cum-Office Building Society (Regd.), Ludhiana, cannot be said to be a public authority and, therefore, the information as sought for by the petitioner has rightly been declined by the State Information Commission, Punjab, vide order dated 13.08.2015 (Annexure P-3). The order, being in accordance with law, does not call for any interference by this Court.
The writ petition, therefore, stands dismissed.
