The respondent-trust is running a Vedapatasala wherein the students and other incumbents are given the teaching of Vedas and other religious texts. The question before the High court was whether the trust was a religious trust and as such would come within the scope of Section 2 of the Tamil Nadu Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1961. The High court came to the conclusion that the trust was a religious trust. We have heard Mr Mohan, learned counsel for the State of Tamil Nadu. He has taken us through the judgment of the High court. We agree with the reasoning and the conclusions reached therein. The appeals are dismissed. No costs.
