Judgment
Smt. Anusha Srivatsava, learned counsel is directed to accept notice for respondent No.1.
Sri. G Nataraj, learned counsel is directed to accept notice for respondent No.2.
Petitioner is before this Court seeking for the following reliefs:
a. "Issue a writ of mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction directing the 2nd respondent (Karnataka State Bar Council) to forthwith enroll the petitioner as an advocate on its rolls, as per the Advocate Act, 1961 and the rules framed thereunder.
b. Declare that the policy/notification of the 2nd Respondent (Karnataka State Bar Council) of not granting enrolment to students who have obtained Law degree from University, situated outside the State of Karnataka, as arbitrary, illegal and unconstitutional
c. Issue/pass any such other appropriate order/orders and to grant such other relief as this Hon'ble court deems fit and proper in the circumstances and facts of the case in the interest of justice and equity."
The grievance of the petitioner is that the application of the petitioner for enrolment with the Karnataka State Bar Council has not been processed since the petitioner has obtained a law degree from an University situated outside the State of Karnataka.
Sri. G Nataraj, learned counsel for respondent No.2 would submit that the application is under process. The University from which the petitioner claims to have graduated having been affiliated to the Bar Council of India, the veracity of the certificate is being verified by the Bar Council to ascertain if indeed, the University had issued the said certificate.
His submission is that a letter has already been sent to the University and once necessary verification is received from the University, the application of the petitioner would be processed. The said submission of the learned counsel for respondent no. 2 answers the grievance of the petitioner.
Placing the said submission on record, petition stands disposed of.
