The writ petitioner has been included in the rank list of contingent workers in the first respondent Municipality as rank no.1. Contending that, no person has been appointed from the rank list and that temporary hands are now being appointed without any selection process to the prejudice of the petitioner, she has approached this Court.
A statement has been filed by the first respondent wherein it is stated that after completion of the process of selection, draft rank list was published on 20.11.2020. It was submitted before the Municipal Council. Due to various reasons, no decision could be taken on that. It is further stated that though a Council meeting held on 17.09.2021, had considered the issue of appointment of contingent workers from the draft list, in the light of objections of the Councilors, the same was adjourned.
I find no reason as to why, after a long drawn process of selection, the rank holders should be kept waiting unendingly. Having considered this, I am inclined to direct the first respondent to take a final decision in the next Municipal Council meeting or within a period of two months, from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment, whichever is earlier.
The writ petition is disposed of as above.
