Petitioner No.1-Simranjeet Kaur aged about 27 years and petitioner No.2-Satnam Singh aged about 28 years have approached this Court seeking issuance of a direction to official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of private respondents, having married against the wishes of their families.

Notice of motion.

At this stage, Mr. Gauravdeep Singh Dhaliwal, AAG, Punjab, has appeared and accepts notice. Learned State counsel upon instructions from ASI Sukhmander Singh, submitted that pursuant to receipt of an advance copy of the petition, some inquiries were made and statements of respondents No.4 to 7 have been recorded who have stated that they do not intend to cause any harm to the petitioners.

In view of the aforestated position, the instant petition is disposed of having been rendered infructuous, as the private respondents have assured that they will not cause any harm to the petitioners.

However, in case at any later state, the petitioners apprehend any threat to their lives and liberty, it shall be open to the petitioners to approach this Court again.
