Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Deputy Advocate General for the State.

Petitioners have sought for the following reliefs: -

“(a) Issue a writ order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent no. 1 and 20 to provide proper police protection to the petitioner.”

(b) Issue any suitable writ, order or direction which this Hon’ble Court may deem fit and proper under the facts and circumstances of the case.”

Learned Deputy Advocate General submits that an FIR was lodged on 23.06.2022 and the same was registered as FIR No. 338 of 2022, for offences punishable under Sections 147, 323, 504, 452, 354 and 506 of IPC; that subsequently the charge-sheet also came to be filed in the court and since the FIR was lodged, the respondents have been pressurizing the petitioner and his family to com promise the matter; that on several occasions, they even trespassed into the house of the petitioner and have assaulted them; that the date of marriage of the petitioner nos. 1 and 6 is scheduled on 24.04.2025 i.e. today itself and that the respondents are likely to disrupt the wedding ceremony.

Learned Deputy Advocate General submits that he has been instructed by the learned SSP to submit to the Court that security would be provided to the petitioner and also it would be ensured that the marriage function takes place without any obstruction or hindrance by the respondents.

Submission of the learned Deputy Advocate General is placed on record.

The writ petition is disposed of by directing the SSP, Haridwar to grant protection to the petitioner and also to such others, as may be deemed necessary.

The SSP shall also ensure that the marriage function ceremony goes of smoothly.

Petition stands ordered accordingly.

There shall be no order as to costs.

Let a certified copy of this order be supplied to learned counsel for the parties today itself on payment of usual charges.
