1.

Having heard learned counsel for the petitioner and having perused the material placed on record, this Court is unable to find any reason to

entertain this writ petition.

2.

The petitioner, said to be a job card holder of Moulakandi village in West Garo Hills, seeks to question the order dated 04.12.2017 as issued

by the Block Development Officer & Programme Officer, MGNREGS, Selsella C&RD Block, West Garo Hills declaring the programme for

election against some of the vacancies that have arisen due to resignation of the earlier elected members of respective Village Employment Councils

[''VECs'']. As regards Moulakandi-I, the election programme has been declared for the office of President and Women Member. The petitioner

seeks to submit that for other VECs, the elections are being held for all three offices i.e., President, Secretary and Women Member and the

respondents are not justified in holding election only for the office of President and Women Member for the VEC in question.

3.

On the queries of the Court as to whether the Secretary of the VEC in question has also resigned, learned counsel could not answer in the

affirmative but submits that the election ought to take place for all three members. This Court is unable to find any basis for the submissions so

made and it is difficult to accept that merely for resignation of President and Women Member, the election is required to be held for the office of

the Secretary also.

4.

Learned counsel would further submit that there are allegations of misappropriation of funds. In that regard, it has been pointed out that the Sub-

Divisional Officer concerned has called a meeting of job card holders today at Moulakandi U.P. School. The petitioner or any other person may

submit the grievance before the authorities concerned in accordance with law but, for that matter, there appears no reason to interfere with the

election programme as announced in the order dated 04.12.2017.

5.

Accordingly, this petition stands rejected.
