The petitioner, who is working as Pump Operator, seeks issuance of directions to the respondents to promote him as Junior Engineer w.e.f. 22.06.2021 in accordance with Notification dated 22.6.2021 (Annexure P-3).

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner at this stage would be satisfied in case the respondents consider his case for the purpose of promotion in accordance with the Notification. It has been submitted that although the petitioner had submitted a representation dated 5.6.2023 (Annexure P-7) with the department concerned and also served a legal notice dated 9.6.2023 (Annexure P-8) upon the respondents, but to no avail.

Upon an advance copy of petition having been supplied to State, Mr. Inderpreet Singh Kang, AAG, Punjab has put in appearance on behalf of respondents.

Having regard to the limited prayer made on behalf of the petitioner at this stage, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to consider the case of the petitioner for promotion as Junior Engineer in accordance with the Notification and to dispose of the legal notice dated 9.6.2023 (Annexure P-8) in accordance with law expeditiously. In case the petitioner is found entitled to relief of promotion, the consequential benefits, if any, found following from the same shall also be released to him.
