Satnam Singh and another vs State of Punjab

The present petition has been filed under Section 438 Cr.P.C. for staying the arrest of the petitioners during the pendency of the bail application

which is pending for 18.04.2018 before the learned Additional Sessions Judge, Jalandhar in case titled as “Satnam Singh and another vs. State of

Punjabâ€. The case is regarding FIR No.0066 dated 09.03.2018 registered at Police Station, Division No.8, District Jalandhar. It has been pleaded in

the petition that notice was issued in the bail application on 19.03.2018 for 26.03.2018. On 26.03.2018, the same was adjourned for 02.04.2018. On

02.04.2018, due to Bharat Band (strike), the matter was adjourned to 18.04.2018. The petitioners have pleaded that the police is harassing them.

On the asking of the Court, Ms. Jaspreet Kaur, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State.

It is a case where the son of the petitioners has performed the marriage with the daughter of the complainant. They had moved a petition for seeking

protection which was disposed of by order of this Court dated 13.03.2018. FIR has been registered against the petitioners and their son.

Keeping in view the above facts and circumstances and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, the bail application fixed before the

learned Additional Sessions Judge, Jalandhar in case titled as “Satnam Singh and another Vs. State of Punjab†is pre-poned from 18.04.2018 to

11.04.2018. The learned Additional Sessions Judge, Jalandhar will dispose of the bail application as expeditiously as possible.

The present petition stands disposed of.
