AUGUSTINE GEORGE MASIH, J. (ORAL)

It is the contention of counsel for the petitioners that petitioner No.1 has, out of her free will, decided to stay with petitioner No.2. The parents of

petitioner No.1 are opposed to the said fact and, therefore, she is facing a threat to her life and liberty. Since she has preferred to reside with

petitioner No.2, therefore, his life and liberty is also at stake.

Highlighting the said aspect, counsel for the petitioners, states that the petitioners have submitted a representation dated 02.04.2018 (Annexure P-6) to

the Commissioner of Police, Amritsar.

Counsel contends that the petitioners, at this stage, would be satisfied if a direction is issued to the Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, as also the

S.H.O., Police Station Chheharta, District Amritsar, within whose jurisdiction the petitioners are residing, to look into the representation and take

appropriate steps in accordance with law, if required.

Keeping in view the assertions made by the counsel for the petitioners and in the light of the fact that the life and liberty of the petitioners is of

paramount importance, direction is issued to the Commissioner of Police, Amritsar-respondent No.2 and S.H.O., Police Station Chheharta, District

Amritsar-respondent No.3 to consider the representation of the petitioners and to take appropriate steps in accordance with law, if required.
