This matter is being taken up for hearing through video conferencing due to the outbreak of the pandemic, COVID-19.
Petitioners seek protection of their life and liberty as they apprehend danger at the hands of respondents No. 4 to 7 and other relatives because they
have married each other on 14.07.2020 against the wishes of the said respondents.
Learned counsel for the petitioners identifies both the petitioners on the basis of documents attached.
It is contended that the petitioners are major, their dates of birth being 17.11.2000 and 26.12.1993, respectively. True copies of Adhaar Cards of both
the petitioners are appended with the petition as Annexures P1 and P2, respectively. A copy of the Marriage Certificate and Marriage Photographs
are on record as Annexures P-3 and P-4, respectively. Petitioners, it is stated, submitted representation dated 14.07.2020 (Annexure P5) to
respondent No.2 i.e., the Senior Superintendent of Police, UT, Chandigarh for redressal of their grievance but no action has been taken thereon.
Notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 3.
Mr. Amit Kumar Goyal, APP accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3. Advance copy of the petition already stands served.
Without commenting upon the age of the petitioners or the validity of their marriage or the validity and genuineness of the certificates/documents
appended with the petition, respondent No.2 â€" Senior Superintendent of Police, UT, Chandigarh is directed to look into representation dated
14.07.2020 submitted by the petitioners and take appropriate action if any/as may be required, keeping in view the threat perception to the petitioners.
Petition is disposed of accordingly.
