P.N. Ravindran, J.—The Petitioner is the first claimant in OP (MV) No. 316 of 2005 on the file of the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Pathanamthitta. In that claim petition, the Petitioner and her children have claimed the sum of Rs. 3,00,000/- (Rupees Three Lakhs only) as compensation from the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation and its driver, Respondents 1 and 2 herein. In this writ petition, the Petitioner seeks a direction to the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Pathanamthitta to dispose of OP (MV) No. 316 of 2005 expeditiously.

2.

Pursuant to the directions issued by me, the Registry called for a report from the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Pathanamthitta. The Registry has received a report dated 26.05.2011 to the effect that the claimants have filed an application I.A. No. 4751 of 2010 for an early disposal of the case and the case stands posted to 28.07.2011 for filing of objections to that application by the Respondents in the claim petition.

3.

It is evident from the report submitted by the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Pathanamthitta that notice has been served on the Respondents in the claim petition and it is ripe for disposal. The accident took place on 30.07.2004. Nearly seven years have passed thereafter. In such circumstances, I am of the opinion that the request made by the claimants for expeditious disposal of the case should be accepted.

4.

I, accordingly direct the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Pathanamthitta to try and dispose of the OP (MV) No. 316 of 2005 expeditiously, and in any event, within three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
