Judgment
A.K. Rajan, J.—The prayers in the writ petitions are to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents the respondents to permit the petitioners to join in the third year B.L. Degree Course forthwith.
Admittedly, the petitioners did not have sufficient attendance for III Semester. According to the rules and regulations, a person cannot be allowed to write III Semester, unless he/she has sufficient attendance. Since the College does not conduct all the semesters all the times, (at one relevant point of time either I, III, V or II, IV, VI semesters conducted), these petitioners were permitted to go to IV Semester and continue their studies in IV Semester examination. This does not give them a right to go to V Semester and also to write III Semester examination, where there is deficiency of attendance. Hence, the prayer sought for cannot be granted. The writ petitions are dismissed. No costs. Consequently, WPMP Nos.30282, 30281, 27676, 29884 to 29887 of 2004 are dismissed. However, it is made clear that the petitioners shall attend III Semester and complete the attendance and only thereafter they can write III Semester, and in the next year they can go to the next semester.
