[1] This petition for a writ of habeas corpus was filed in connection with the Order of Detention dated 20.12.2020 passed by the District Magistrate,
Chandel District, Manipur, in CRIL/NSA/DM-CDL/No. 4 of 2020, Â Â whereby the petitioner was detained in exercise of power under Section 3(3)
of the National Security Act, 1980, read with Order No. 17(1)49/80â€"H(Pt-II) dated 14.10.2020 issued by the Home Department, Government of
Manipur.
[2] While so, Mr. Ch. Ngongo, learned counsel for the petitioner, informed this Court on 02.03.2021 that the impugned detention order had been
withdrawn. Mr. Athouba Khaidem, learned PP appearing for the State authorities, and Mr. S. Samarjeet, learned CGC appearing for the Union of
India, sought time to verify and report.
[3] Today, Mr. Athouba Khaidem, learned PP, and Mr. S. Samarjeet, learned CGC, confirm on the basis of instructions that the impugned detention
order has been revoked. Mr. S. Samarjeet, learned CGC, also produced the Wireless Message dated 19.02.2021 received from the Home Department
of the Union of India, New Delhi, affirming this fact.
[4] In the light of this development, challenge to the impugned detention order no longer survives for consideration on merits. Recording the same, this
petition is disposed of. The petitioner shall be set at liberty forthwith, if his further incarceration is not required in connection with any other case or
pursuant to any other order of detention.
No order as to costs.
