Judgment

The grievance of the petitioner in this writ petition is with regard to the alleged inaction on the part of the police authorities, exercising jurisdiction at Hasnabad in the District of North 24-Parganas, with regard to the FIR lodged by on May 2, 2020 before the Officer-in-Charge, Hasnabad Police Station.
From the writ petition and the documents disclosed therewith, it appears that the allegation made by the petitioner with regard to the alleged offence committed by the private respondents is quite serious, involving violation of the provisions of the Arms Act.
Learned senior counsel appearing for the State respondents submitted that based on the FIR lodged by the petitioner, the concerned police authorities in the District of North 24-Parganas, particularly Hasnabad Police Station have already arrested one of the accused persons viz., Hasanur Rahaman and presently he is in judicial custody.
It was further submitted that the police authorities are pursuing the matter, but due to recent cyclone (Amphan) they were otherwise busy in protecting the life of the citizens residing in Hasnabad. According to the State respondents, the police authorities are taking appropriate steps to apprehend the persons named by the petitioner in her F.I.R.
In view of the above submissions made on behalf of the State respondents, the hearing of the writ petition is adjourned for three weeks.
The writ petition will appear three weeks hence under the heading 'Listed Motion'.
The Additional Superintendent of Police exercising jurisdiction over Hasnabad Police Station shall file a report on the next date of hearing. Needless to mention the Superintendent of Police, Basirhat Police District shall take all steps to protect the life and property of the petitioner.
All parties, including the Police Authorities shall act upon server copy of this order without insisting upon production of certified copy of the same.
